The Wellness Approach

 

 

The difference between traditional medical care and wellness care is that wellness care ignights the natural healing ability of the body. Wellness care aims to remove anything that interferes with normal body function instead of adding anything to it. On the other hand, traditional medical care adds something from the outside to treat a condition such as surgery or a medication.

 

When a patient has high cholesterol, traditional medical approach would be a prescription that would lower cholesterol, and instruct the patient to take the medication. The result would be lower cholesterol, but the underlying cause that is causing the cholesterol to be high would be ignored. Not to mention the risks and complications associated with taking medications.

 

Whether it's a poor diet, obesity or a lack of exercise, the medication will decrease the cholesterol, leaving the root of the problem thats causing the high cholesterol to be ignored.

 

The Wellness Approach

 

Ideal conditions for normal function is considered the state of Wellness… The wellness approach looks for the cause of any disruption or disturbance and makes lifestyle adjustments and interventions that optimize the conditions that lead to normal function. Effective healing occurs when the body is working properly. When the body maintains itself well and heals well, the ultimate level of health can be achieved.
